About Rising Moon Midwifery

Kate Aseron, CPM

I am the mother of two wonderful boys. My first son was born in 1998. I went into the birth believing that because I took a childbirth education class, hired a doula, and wrote a birth plan I could have a natural birth in a large teaching hospital. After the birth, however, I was left struggling to figure out how my experience had included every intervention except for a cesarean section. I felt my baby and I were both harmed - physically and emotionally -by this experience. Soon after that I was introduced to a midwife and began the process of learning about birth. In 1999 I began attending midwifery classes at The Art of Midwifery School in Media, PA with Joanne Dozor, CPM, and completed the 3 year program in 2002.

In 2000, my second son was born at home into the hands of a loving midwife. The difference in management between my pregnancies and births cemented my calling to provide home-based midwifery care to other families. I attended births with midwives in the area gaining hands-on experience and increasing my skills. In 2003, I began practicing independently and opened Rising Moon Midwifery. I earned the Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) credential through the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM).

My training has been based on the belief that birth is a normal, physiologic process that women experience best with little intervention. Rising Moon has tremendous birth outcomes and I welcome you to contact former clients to find out about their experience with the my practice. This information is available upon request.

One last thing. In September 2009, I got married and changed my name from Kate Fawley to Kate Aseron. But I'm the same Kate, and it's the same Rising Moon Midwifery providing the same quality care since 2003.
